Hello BAU runners,
 

We are really busy getting everything ready for tomorrow. 

For those who know people who want to run and haven't registered, we have day-of registration.

Packet pickup - Tonight (Friday) 5p - 8p
                       - Tomorrow (Saturday) 1 hour before each race start

                       - location: start/finish - at Klackle's, north of the pavilion (white puffy building), across the parking lot.

 

Start times - 12 hr - 6a (flashlights and headlamps), 6 hr - 12p, 3 hr - 3p

Drop bags - there will be an area around the start/finish tent

Camping - free camping...car camping....
               - we have been given an area right next the s/f, on the course

Bathroom - a short distance away (100 yds) on the east end of the pavilion.  Open all night for both Saturday and Sunday.  I believe showers are available there as well.

Aid Station - every 2 miles.  All the normal aid....water, sports drink, gels, Coke, gummy bears, M&M's, skittles, cookies, banana's, oranges, PB&J, grilled cheese.....If we don't have it, let us know.  I'll do my best to accommodate.

Shirts -  I'll do my best to make sure everyone gets one.  I'll also have a limited number of buffs with the BAU logo for sale ($20).  We also have some of the gloves from last year ($2/pair).

Hey Bad Apples,   

 

We are almost there.  The 2014 BAD APPLE ULTRA.  You are receiving this email because you registered to run for 12, 6, or 3 hours as part of a relay team or solo.  Thank you all for registering for this event.  I hope you enjoy running it as much as the volunteers and I enjoy hosting it.

Now to the important info:

Location: Klackle Orchards 11466 W. Carson City Rd. Greenville, MI 48838 (around 1 mile west of Greenville on M-57 (Carson City Rd.)).

              When entering Klackle Orchards, we will be on the north side of the pavilion (big white building) on the north side of the parking lot.

Start times: 12 hour - 6am

                     6 hour - 12pm

                     3 hour - 3pm

            pre-race meeting 10 minutes before every start

Packet pickup: Friday night - 5p - 8p @ the start/finish area

                        Saturday - 1 hour before the start of each run @ the start finish/area

Course: 4 mile loop, some grass, some orchard, some single track, some apples, rocks and roots. How many laps will you run?

Rules:  HAVE FUN!!!!!

            Runners are responsible for making sure their laps are counted by the timers/lap counters.

            Pacers - starting at the halfway point of your run.  They MUST sign the waiver at the start/finish.

            Relay - every runner must run at least one (1) lap.  Rotate however you wish.

            THANK THE VOLUNTEERS!

            The orchard will be open to the public.  The RD did a terrible job of picking the 2014 date....yeah, I know....the weekend before Halloween.  Please be considerate of those visiting the orchard during the run.  We have never had any problems and I don't anticipate any.

Lap Count:  Laps are the main determining factor for placing.  Every runner who comes through the start/finish before time expires (5:59:59 pm) on their run has the opportunity to run a "bonus lap".  This means you don't have to be done by 6 pm.  Just through the start/finish for another lap.  Time becomes relevant after 6 pm.  If two runners are in the same lap, the faster time wins.  

Aid Stations: 2 of them...every 2 miles.  Normal ultra foods: Advocare Rehydrate gels and drink, water, coke, PB & J (or honey), potato chips (gluten free), M & M's, gummy bears, potatoes, warm chicken broth (gluten free), grilled cheese, apples, bananas, cookies.....and more I'm sure.  I'll do my best to make sure everything you need is there.

Camping/Hotel: Camping is free and we will direct to you a large grass area to camp for Friday night at packet pickup.  You are welcome to camp Saturday night if needed.  There is a hotel (AmericInn) .5 miles east of the orchard. Be sure to mention Bad Apple for a discount.  Those who booked the hotel before the discount was setup should still receive it.  Be sure to ask.

Awards:  Everyone receives the finisher award.  No medal this year.  I was hoping for something more useful.  Overall male and female in each race will get an award and free entry to the following year.  Masters male and female in each race will get an award.  There is plenty of stuff being raffled off as well.  You'll want to check and see if you won anything in the raffle.  If not, I'll take it home.

Race Photos:  Vanessa from Endless Expressions Photography will be taking photos at the race later in the day.  Information on how to view/purchase photos will be provided post race.

After Party:  As the run is wrapping up we'll fire up the grill.  We end all the races at 6p.  The hope is for all the runners to get a chance to hangout afterwards.  Hopefully we will have some great weather and a nice fire going.  I believe we have been rained on at some point every year.  Maybe this will be the year we stay dry.

Results:  We will hand awards out to everyone during the after party.  Results will be posted on www.UltraSignup.com.  There will be a link on the BAU site: www.badappleultra.com.  Typically they are up within 1-2 days.
